Every Picture Tells a Story.

New Margretville will be adding new features each month! The images below are links to various nonprofit sites we have chosen to feature now. Plan to come back often; you never know what you might miss!

Prison Dog Project

The Prison Dog Project is only part of what Pathways to Hope does in service to humanity. Click on photo above to visit Pathways to Hope.

By the way, the Prison Dog Project is a program where inmates in prisons are training dogs to assist the disabled. The dogs are then placed with someone who needs a specially trained dog to assist them.

hearts and minds

Hearts and MindsŪ is a clearinghouse of helpful information, motivating people to get involved, and showing how to make self-help, volunteering and donations more effective. This organization works to reach people nationwide and all over the world through their website, national publicity campaign and upcoming printed publications.

Basic message: Each individual has untapped power to make things better.

amnesty international does good work worldwide

Amnesty International is a worldwide campaigning movement that works to promote all the human rights enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and other international standards. In particular, Amnesty International campaigns to free all prisoners of conscience; ensure fair and prompt trials for political prisoners; abolish the death penalty, torture and other cruel treatment of prisoners; end political killings and "disappearances"; and oppose human rights abuses by opposition groups.

Tropical Rainforest Coalition (TRC) believes that individuals can make a difference. Established in 1991 during World Rainforest Week, TRC is an all-volunteer, non-profit organization that has made a significant impact on the preservation of rainforests and indigenous people. TRC builds coalitions between individuals, corporations, businesses, learning institutions and non-governmental organizations seeking to reverse the unsustainable use of the rainforests.
